“When a person really desires something,
all the universe conspires to help that
person to realize his dream.”
{Paulo Coelho}

Message of the Day:

Today in meditation we channel the inner strength we activated last week, allowing it to powerfully radiate out into the world. We do this by sustaining our connection to universal power sourced through the third chakra. Through this action alone, we step into our personal power and provide a model of grace, power, and support to those around us.  As we have learned over our time together, when we harness our true inner strength, we nourish everything we touch in a balanced way. The expression of our true power becomes the means through which growth and structure unfolds. We become a strong field of organizing power in our environment—like a powerful magnet. Our influence does not stem from an ego need for power or control. Instead, we connect our individual strength with cosmic power and intelligence, thereby becoming a strong conduit. We manifest this way of self-expression naturally, as a conscious participant in nature’s grand orchestration of life. Spiritual power is the flow of universal power focused through us to support and benefit others.

Day17 Expressing Power

Oprah Winfrey:

Last week, Deepak guided us as we went within to harness the full force of authentic power, the power that comes from grace, compassion, trust, the power of alignment with the universe.  When we align with that magnificence, we become a fount of inspiration and hope for everybody around us.  And the most magical truth of all is this we don’t need to work hard and struggle to access that alignment.  When you have the strength to surrender, to allow yourself to follow your flow, you then serve as a beacon and a light and emanate a force mightier than you can imagine.  Express that trust, that surrender to that which is greater than yourself – that unhindered sense of peace and clarity, and you radiate a vortex of strength and power.  Deepak takes us deeper into the wonders that will follow.  Let’s breathe, everyone, and embrace the flow.

Deepak Chopra:

Because Shakti is all about supporting you in an effortless way, using the flow of life energy, awakening any chakra brings more power and strength.  The third chakra is more specific.  It’s like a core of support that knits together mental, emotional and spiritual strength.  You need all three to overcome obstacles and reach the goals in life that really matter to you.  The words associated with this primal power are courage, confidence, self-reliance, stamina and persistence.  By aligning our strength, confidence and power to the universe, we, in turn become a source of organizing power for those around us.

Today’s spiritual secret is liberating.  The greatest power comes from surrender.  To surrender is a mysterious process because you don’t become passive or give up.  Instead, you hand a problem over to a power greater than your limited physical and mental powers.  This is the flow of spiritual power.

Our beings are miraculous.  The mind is connected to trillions of cells forming a healing system that defies medical science to explain.  When healing is needed, organized changes occur at every level.  The nervous system reroutes nutrients, messenger molecules produce specific signals picked up by white blood cells, the circulatory system calls upon extra blood for the affected area, and shifts occur in hormonal balance.  That’s only scratching the surface but the point is this…the healing system draws on every kind of ability that mind and body possess, doing it with utmost organization and silent communication.  This is a perfect example of the supremely organized, intelligent and silent power that the universe can supply.

You don’t have to use force to instigate healing because there is an automatic connection thru the third chakra to the hidden power that supports all living things.  As the power of the universe flows through you to others, you are giving support of a very special kind, the kind that contains healing.  As we prepare for meditation, let’s take a moment to consider today’s centering thought,
I radiate strength and support.

Now, please find a comfortable position.  Place your hands lightly in your lap and close your eyes.  Connect with your body and notice any tension it might be holding on to.  Send loving thoughts to any area in need of attention and invite your body to release any stress.  As you inhale and exhale, allow your body to be calmer and more relaxed.  It’s time to introduce the syllables Om Swaha.  Om Swaha.  This is the mantra associated with the third chakra  Om Swaha.  Repeat it silently to yourself.  Om Swaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra.  Continue mediation for about 10 minutes.  Om Swaha.  Om Swaha.  Just mentally.  Om Swaha.  Om Swaha.  Release the mantra and continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought, I radiate strength and support.
I radiate strength and support.

To keep the Shakti of power flowing today, take a moment to notice whenever an obstacle is removed or things unexpectedly go well.  Maybe a person suddenly takes charge to make things happen.  A new idea shows the way forward or circumstances change for the better out of the blue.  By noticing when support arrives unexpectedly, you’re keeping up your connection to your third chakra, your power center.   In this flow, we awaken to a silent, intelligent kind of power to resolve any situation without force.  This way of being is a gift of positive transformation in the world.

1. “Remember a large project you were working on. You needed a critical component, information, or person to complete the assignment and you had no idea how you would get it in time. Then, out of nowhere, that missing piece was provided in a serendipitous way. Write down the sequence of events, and how you felt when the solution appeared out of nowhere. When your organizing power center is aligned with nature, accomplishment flows effortlessly, without strain.”
2.  “Balanced power runs life with a feeling of confidence and fulfillment. Your deepest power is nature’s power, and when your flow is aligned with this flow of universal power, disparate elements of life are seamlessly integrated together. Describe how this kind of power feels in your body.”

That’s what I consider true generosity:
You give your all, and yet you always
feel as if it costs you nothing.”
{Simone de Beauvoir}

 Message of the Day:

When we tap into the flow of true happiness, we become a beacon for others to do the same. As we practice sustaining our connection to this infinite source of inner joy we access the uplifting support of happiness no matter what may be happening around us. We are now empowered to shift the state we are in by choosing to pause for a moment as we find our way back to the flow of positivity. As we live mindfully responsive to life, choosing to access and express our inner joy, we affect a larger circle of people than we can know.  Today’s meditation is dedicated to taking the flow of happiness you discovered during our time together and expanding it, allowing you to express happiness freely without it ever being diminished. As others are exposed to your happiness, they have the opportunity to open to it, receive it, and effortlessly pass it on. Each moment we have the ability to say yes to happiness. Lead the way and watch the world around you transform!

Day16 Expressing Happiness

Oprah Winfrey:

Hello everyone.  It’s day 16.  Last week we heightened our happiness potential by embracing the guidance of our deepest desires, activating our energy center, or chakra, of happiness.  Now, with the source of happiness awakened within, we embrace “being” the source of our happiness.  We’re going to take the next step in following our flow by learning to live in happiness, extending and expressing the energy of happiness so it radiates out from within us – to our families,  our friends, and even around the world.  What I know for sure is that each of us is responsible for the energy we bring to any moment.  When you emanate the energy of happiness you light people up – without even knowing it.  You can shift someone else’s experience and impact people you don’t even come in contact with because you add to the positive vibration of all that is.  And that, My Friends, is what changes the world, one person, one energetic vibration at a time.  Expressing the energy of happiness naturally accelerates the momentum and exchange of joy.  The more we give, the more we receive.  Choose to express the energy of happiness and it will multiply – within you and around you.  Deepak is going to take us back through the happiness chakra where we access and express our deepest contentment.  Enjoy the journey, My Friends, and pass it on.

Deepak Chopra:

We can’t achieve well-being without happiness.  Many people try.  They obsess about their health, they seek as much career success as possible.  They amass money and surround themselves with all the finer things. Despite these tactics, we can sense that the trappings of a happy life are no substitute for being the source of happiness inside ourselves.

When we express happiness, we change the world, the way a single candle, once lit, adds to the light in the world. The second chakra, the energetic center of happiness, pleasure and satisfaction can be visualized as a light radiating its energy in all directions.  Your happiness radiates out into the world, effecting people you never meet.  Your being adds to the harmony of all beings.  Happiness goes viral.  If you have it, the person next to you is likely to get it too. That’s why it’s so nourishing to be around someone who radiates contentment.  They give everything without losing anything.  They have generosity of spirit which is the overflow of joy at the level of the true self.

To be completely happy, you must participate and share who you  are.  We do this by activating the second chakra to access our center so that we begin to radiate a quiet contentment that is alive, vibrant and alert.  Why do we smile being in the presence of small children when they are playing – because without trying or even noticing what they are doing, children at play radiate the happiness they’re experiencing.  The same is possible for you today.

As we prepared for meditation, let’s take a moment to focus on today’s centering thought,
I radiate happiness and generosity of spirit.

Now let’s begin.  Please find a comfortable position.  Place your hands lightly in your lap  and close your eyes. Breathe naturally and effortlessly.  Begin to release your thoughts and expectations.  With each inhalation and exhalation, allow yourself to become more relaxed, more comfortable, more at peace.  Now gently introduce  the syllables, Om Bhuvaha.  Om Bhuvaha.  This is the mantra associated with the second chakra.  Om Bhuvaha. Repeat it silently to yourself.  Om Bhuvaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra.  Om Bhuvaha.  Om Bhuvaha.  Continue with your mediation for about 10 minutes.  Om Bhuvaha.  Just mentally.  Om Bhuvaha.  Om Bhuvaha.  Release the mantra.  Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, you can open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, contemplate today’s centering thought, I radiate happiness and generosity of spirit.  I radiate happiness and generosity of spirit.  I radiate happiness and generosity of spirit.

To keep the expression of happiness flowing, take a moment today to remember a time when you unexpectedly received some very good news.  Besides putting you in a good mood, didn’t your level of generosity expand at the same time?  In Japan, the custom when pouring rice wine, is to let the glass overflow.  A small saucer catches this overflow which is then handed to a guest or friend.  See if you can apply this custom to your well-being today.  Be the overflowing vessel.  Accompany your words with a smile.  If you have a reason to feel good, find a way to make someone else feel the same.  The key to generosity lies in words you’ve already heard today.  You can give without a sense of loss.  That’s the magic of happiness.  The more you give, the more your happiness increases.  Once you know this truth, it becomes easier to follow your most generous impulses because you are secure in the knowledge that every aspect of consciousness comes from a limitless source within.

Namaste.

“True stability results when presumed order
and presumed disorder are balanced.”
{Tom Robbins}

Message of the Day:

Welcome to our third week in meditation together! Over our remaining days, we will discover how to let our highest self shine forth by allowing the essential energy of all seven chakras to flow abundantly in our lives. As we do, we become powerful agents of change for everyone and everything in our environment.  The mantras this week are carefully chosen to connect you with your inner truth while opening the energy of the corresponding chakra, this supports the movement of these transformative energies from inside to outside. The gift of sharing these conscious energies freely is the reward of making the world a better place.  Each day this week, we will sustain this flow by traveling the chakras for a final time together. Today we start with the first, or root chakra. When our root chakra is open, it not only gives us a feeling of safety, it also generates a sense of security and peace to those around us. As you express the energy of grounded peace you create a ripple that infinitely radiates beyond you.

CENTERING THOUGHT

Day15 Expressing Security

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome to week 3 and the beginning of our final week of Finding Your Flow.  My heart is overwhelmed, so warmed and open, hearing from so many of you, sharing what an uplifting experience this has been for you so far.  For me too, I want you to know.  And I thank you for bringing your energy and commitment to this world wide family of meditators.  During our last 14 days together, we learned to find and awaken, hopefully, the universal flow within each of us.  We’ve practiced opening and activating that flow through our internal energy centers, our chakras.  This week we’ll begin to transform that powerful flow, expanding our energy to its fullest.  The awakening we’ve experienced leads us to the most natural innate sense of inner centeredness and fulfillment – that anchored, calm, self-awareness naturally gives of itself to others.  That is the miracle.  We’re all here to share our gifts and this week we get to complete the circle, at least for now.  Deepak is going to lead us once more, through our energy centers, our chakras.  With the energy flow of the universe activated within us, we light up in the fullness of who we are and who we’re meant to be.  Then, in the most effortless and powerful way, we uplift ourselves and everyone around us.  We all come together in a shared, spiritual exchange.  It’s beautiful and just waiting to flow.  So, get quiet, breathe, let Deepak guide us through the mantras and meditations that will help us settle into the assuredness of who we really are.  As we radiate the energy of abundant well-being into the world.

Deepak Chopra:

Your real contribution to the world is who you are inside, not what you do outside.  For what you do, has its source in who you are.  Every day you are effecting other people by the energy you radiate and the best effect you can have is to radiate the energies of all seven chakras beginning with inner security and peace.  During this final week together, we will use our time to make these qualities part of your well-being, bringing a sense of fulfillment that you and others can feel and depend on.

In India, spiritual attainment is called moksha and this means fulfillment, freedom and joy.  Those who are self-awakened, share their being with everyone and everything around them.  Every person naturally radiates the energy that is inside them, creating a subtle atmosphere of positivity or negativity but usually a mixture of both.  Each of us chooses which kind of energy we want to radiate.  This doesn’t require effort.  Energy, like water, is meant to flow and stagnates if it doesn’t.  By awakening the seven chakras, our energy flows out into the world effortlessly, bringing the kind of energy that originates in the true self.

For the first chakra, the energy is security and peace.  This is a basic kind of fulfillment.  Everyone deserves to have it.  You may play a role in life such as being a parent, where becoming a source of security for others is important. First and foremost, however, you must be secure inside yourself.  You can do this by consciously focusing your attention and directing your intentions in that direction.  The mantras in this week’s meditations are designed to facilitate bringing the energies in each chakra out into the world.  They help you feel connected to the universe and the play of creation.  You will learn that your awakened life naturally gives of itself to others.  In that way, the entire human family is niched together in a single spiritual journey.  As we settle in for meditation, let’s take a moment to consider today’s centering thought,
I radiate complete peace and security

Please be seated comfortably, relaxing your hands and your body.  Breathe effortlessly and easily, gently release any tension you feel.  Begin to repeat today’s mantra, Om Bhu.  This is the mantra associated with the first chakra, Om Bhu.  Repeat it silently.  Om Bhu.  Om Bhu.  Om Bhu.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra.  Om Bhu.  Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes.  Om Bhu.  Om Bhu.  Just mentally.  Om Bhu.  Release the mantra.  Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, you can open your eyes.  As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
I radiate complete peace and security.

To keep the flowing energy of security in motion today, take time to be a grounding influence.  In a moment when others are confused or chaotic, when the craziness gets to be too much, pause and take time to go within.  Close your eyes and connect with your base of stability.  Center yourself and begin to radiate your own grounded safe peaceful being.  What you’re doing is simple and yet profound because in any situation, you are radiating not just energy, but who you are at that moment.  Your being is contributing to reality as it unfolds.  If you radiate peace and security, you are offering the world and those you love a great gift.

Namaste

Journal Questions

1. “Write in your journal about a circumstance where someone looked to you as the calming, sensible voice in a confusing, chaotic situation, even though you weren’t “in charge.” It could have been with your co-workers or family members or a group of strangers. They subconsciously sensed your center of calm and security. This is your gift of balanced strength.”

2.  “Remember the internal state you were in when you experienced balanced strength. Write down your memories and sensations. Realize that this state is accessible to you at all times to settle and calm yourself, regardless of your environment.”

3.  “Write down a situation that generally makes you feel insecure. Now describe yourself in this scenario with that internal state of calm and security you described above. Detail how you are standing, speaking, breathing, and your body language.”

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are
tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
{Ralph Waldo Emerson}

Message of the Day:

Congratulations on completing the first two weeks of our 21-Day Meditation Experience! Know that with each moment you spend in stillness you are connecting to your deepest self, opening to your flow, and awakening to a life abundant with beauty, love, and joy.  Today’s meditation is dedicated to aligning with our natural and divine consciousness by activating the energy of the seventh chakra. We learn that enlightenment is not out of reach. By cultivating self-awareness and presence during everyday moments, we experience true wakefulness—we are fully alive in the moment. To experience this awakening, it’s not necessary to radically restructure your life. These moments of presence are available in every breath we take . . . they are there in the gap between every thought we have.  When we are truly conscious, we may experience moments when our pure self shines through and suddenly life flows smoothly, sweetly, and peacefully. Our complete spiritual awakening consists of these moments aggregating and expanding into periods of time, and then into longer stretches of time, until awareness becomes a continuum of “now” consciousness, 24 hours a day. Today’s lesson on enlightenment shows us that we don’t need to struggle to get there. It is enough to simply be aware and be present. Nature takes care of the details.”

CENTERING THOUGHT

 Day14 Activating Consciousness

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome to Day 14 – Activating consciousness.  We’re already at the end of our second week of Finding Your Flow and I hope you’re finding your own.  Deepak and I are so gratified to share this journey with you, and the entire community of seekers around the world – it’s so great we’re meditating together.  We’ve raised our awareness and opened up powerful internal energy centers over the last two weeks.  We’ve begun the wonderful path of openness, of connectivity, and illumination that can truly transform our lives.  As Deepak will guide us, when you feel the flow of love and light filling you up, you are experiencing your true self.  You are awakening the profound power of pure consciousness, pure awareness.  You are able to bask in the magnificence of simply being, trusting that your being is, in itself, connected to all that is, to grand and effortless clarity, connected to centeredness.  This is the true wonder of finding your flow.  Each day, we will continue to expand this wonder together.  So today, let Deepak lead us through this beautiful new field of awareness.  Together, let’s activate all the glory of simply being.

Deepak Chopra:

Living as your true self is enlightenment.  When you love simply being alive, if you feel as though love and life are filling you up, you’re experiencing your true self.  These are enlightened moments.  Your life is meant to be harmonious and free.  Today’s spiritual secret is incredibly simple.  Being here is enough.  All that you need or want is already part of your own being, once you make the connection and allow your true self to expand day by day. Today, we will tap into this flow by activating the seventh chakra located at the crown of the head.  We visualize this special Shakti with the color violet.  Self awareness brings you to the source of creativity, intelligence and joy that is your true self.  The spiritual journey consists of making just one connection – linking your everyday self to your true self.  You don’t have to change your routine drastically to walk this path.  Everyone has moments of self awareness when life flows so effortlessly that you’re not struggling in any way.  This is the simplest state of existence, the state of being.  “Being” sounds passive, like lying in a hammock and watching the day go by but being is the field of all possibilities and when you activate it, you suddenly find all kinds of doors  opening.  Yet, no matter how active your life becomes, you never lose the sense that you are the silent witness who views everything from an unshakable center which is your being.   Today, you’ll complete the activation process by meditating on the seventh chakra but this doesn’t end the journey – it’s more like the first moments of waking up, when you know what it’s like to be awake but have many days ahead of you of becoming completely awake.  What makes the path of self awareness so powerful is that each day you spend brings new joy and confidence in your own being.

As we settle in for meditation, let’s consider today’s centering thought,
My life energy radiates the light of being.

Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position.  Begin to notice your breath.  As you inhale, bring your attention to this present moment.   As you exhale, you release all tension.  Now gently introduce the syllables Om Katyayani Namaha.  Om Katyayani Namaha.  Om Katyayani Namaha.  This is the mantra associated with the seventh chakra.  As we repeat Om Katyayani Namaha during meditation, we open our crown to the flow of inner awareness.  Repeat it silently to yourself, Om Katyayani Namaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra.  Om Katyayani Namaha.  Om Katyayani Namaha.  Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes.  Om Katyayani Namaha.  Om Katyayani Namaha.  Just mentally.  Om Katyayani Namaha.  Om Katyayani Namaha.   Release the mantra. Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, you can open your eyes.  As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My life energy radiates the light of being.

To stay in the flow of awareness, pause throughout the day for a moment of gratitude, just for being alive.  Close your eyes, take a breath and then open them.  Let the experience of doing nothing, thinking nothing and saying nothing sink in.  Being is a state of fullness because when you’re just being, you’re possessing your true complete self. Through this practice, you’re learning something incredibly valuable, how to rest into existence.  There is great wisdom in learning to relax, letting go of all tension and stress.  In this state, you open the way for grace and a deep inner knowing that being here is enough.

Namaste

Journal Questions

1. “Recognize that simply being who you are is enough and complete in itself. It doesn’t mean you are better or higher than anyone else, nor are you lower or less important than anyone else. Write a few lines about why being the light you are is all that matters.”

2.  “Write about why you are grateful just to be alive. List even the simplest joys: looking at the stars, the taste of ripe strawberries, or a glass of cool water on a hot day.”

3.  “Write down any ‘aha’ experiences you had this first week, any breakthrough ideas or experiences that gave you a new and deeper sense of your inner self.”

The Word of God was a covenant, not a commandment.
The Ten Commitments – These are our freedoms, not our restrictions.  You shall know that you have taken the path of God ,and you shall know that you have found God, for there will be these signs, these indications, these changes in you. You will know that you found the path to God when you see these signs.  For God’s promise is that no one who truly seeks God shall any longer do these things.  It would be impossible to continue such behaviors.
{Neale  Donald Walsch}

image

1.  You shall love God with all your heart, all your mind all your soul.  And there shall be no other God set before Me.  No longer will you worship human love, or success, money, or power, nor any symbol thereof.  You will set aside these things as a child sets aside toys.  Not because they are unworthy, but because you have outgrown them.

And, you shall know you have taken the path to God.

2.   You shall not use the name God in vain.  Nor will you call upon Me for frivolous things.  You will understand the power of words, and of thoughts, and you would not think of invoking the name of God in an unGodly manner.  You shall not use my name in vain because because you cannot.  For My name-the Great  “I Am” – is never used in vain (that is, without result), nor can it ever be.  And when you have found God, you shall know this.

And, I shall give you these other signs as well;

3.   You shall remember to keep a day for me, and you shall call it holy.  This, so that you do not long stay in your illusion, but cause yourself to remember who and what you are.  And then shall you call every day the sabbath, and every moment holy.

4.  You shall honor your mother and your father – and you will know you are the Son of God when you honor Father/Mother/God in all that you say or do or think.  And even as you so honor the Mother/Father/God, and your father and mother on Earth (for they have given you life), so, too, will you honor everyone.

5.  You know you have found God when you observe that you will not murder (that is, willfully kill, without cause).  For while you will understand that you cannot end another’s life in any event (all life is eternal), you will not choose to terminate any particular incarnation, nor will not change any life energy from one form to another, without the most sacred justification.  Your new reverence for life will cause you to honor all life forms – including plants, trees and animals – and to impact them only when it is for the highest good.

And these other signs will I send you also, that you may know you are on the path.

6.  You will not defile the purity of love with dishonesty or deceit, for this is adulterous.  I promise you, when you have found God, you shall not commit this adultery.

7.  You shall not take a thing that is not your own, nor cheat, nor connive, nor harm another to have anything, for this would be to steal.  I promise you, when you have found God, you shall not steal.

Nor shall you…

8.Say a thing that is not true, and thus bear false witness.

Nor shall you…

9.  Covet your neighbor’s spouse, for why would you want your neighbor’s spouse when you know all others are your spouse?

10.  Covet your neighbor’s goods, for why would you want your neighbor’s goods when you know that all goods can be yours, and all your goods belong to the world?

Intuition is a sense of knowing how to act
spontaneously without needing to know why.”
{Sylvia Clare}

Message of the Day:

Today we explore and align with our wisdom and intuition, as we awaken the energy of our sixth chakra. It is not uncommon to believe that intuition is an extraordinary ability, or that wisdom only comes to elders with a keen sense of insight and experience. We may even consider those who demonstrate they are in tune with the flow of inner wisdom to be magical or possessing special healing powers. The truth is, our real Self is wise and intuitive right now, in this very moment. Knowingness is the nature of pure consciousness. By activating this innate knowledge and insight, we can use it as a trusted guide.  Intuition comes alive when we listen deeply. Today in the stillness of meditation as we quietly listen, we awaken and invite a powerful shift into our lives. The fog of confusion begins to clear, we can see where we are going, and discover our true purpose. It is easier to make decisions when we have comprehensive vision—when we can trust ourselves and the universe. Our meditation today will align us with this ever-present source, lighting our path each step of the way.

 Day13 Activating Wisdom

Oprah Winfrey:

Hello everyone, it’s Day 13.  Welcome!  One of the things I trust most deeply is that we all have an inner voice, an intuition that speaks to us with the ultimate wisdom of the universe.  Think of a time when you had to make an important decision.  You gathered all the information you could, you consulted the people you trust, then you chose to sleep on it, or, as I say, pray on it.  I do that with every important decision in my life.  I give myself space and time to listen to the voice inside.  It is, I believe, the knowing voice of all there is, greater than me.  Gently and lovingly, moving me in the direction that is best.  All of my mistakes, and I do mean all, have come when I did not heed that voice.  Do you get a physical sensation when something feels so right, like literally the hair standing up on the back of your neck?  Do you recognize and undefinable feeling when you are in doubt?  Well those are the signals of the universe inviting us to pay attention.  The whispers of wisdom are always there, helping us navigate our life’s path.  Listen.  Listen to the whispers. Know that you are activating grand guidance.  Open up the flow of receptivity to that innate guiding power and you will access a calm, mindful presence that effortlessly reveals a clear sense of what you need to do.  Today, Deepak will teach of us to activate the wisdom chakra where  pure connection to the all-knowing guidance of the universe is waiting, just waiting within each of us.  And then… we’ll meditate.

Deepak Chopra:

The great poet, William Lake, who had tremendous inner vision, tells us to cleanse the doors of perception. By that, he meant that our eyes see the world dimly.  Only when the eyes are connected with the soul can we truly perceive what is real.

Today, we awaken our inner vision by activating the sixth chakra which is visualized between the eyebrows in the middle of the forehead.  We visualize this energy as purple or deep blue.  Once, flowing, we can see ourselves and everything around us with innocence, freshness and wisdom.

People tend to put wisdom on a pedestal, as if you must live a long time and think deeply to become wise.  But your true self is wise already, and always has  been.  All it takes is to remove the blocks that keep you from connecting to it.  When the sixth chakra is badly blocked, you feel lost and confused. You no longer see the big picture and you find it hard to make decisions that feel right.  The energy, or Shakti that is located in this chakra is in balance when a person has clarity of vision and knows what is right for them.  In other words, they trust their inner guidance.  Guidance is a calm, easy sense of what you need to do.  It rarely comes through visions of angels and disembodied voices.  Intuition is the light of your true self, simply showing you the way.  As we prepare for meditation, let’s consider today’s centering thought,
My inner vision wisely guides my actions.

Now, as you take your comfortable seat with your hands in your lap and your eyes closed, as we do each day, begin to pay attention to your breath.  Allow the sense of relaxation to wash over your body and release any stress or tension as best you can.  Silently introduce the mantra, repeating it effortlessly.  Om Hakini Namaha.  Om Hakini Namaha.  This is the mantra associated with the sixth chakra.  With repetition during meditation, you activate the Shakti of inner wisdom.  Om Hakini Namaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to repeating the mantra.  Om Hakini Namaha.  Continue the meditation for about 10 minutes.  Om Hakini Namaha.  Om Hakini Namaha.  Just mentally.  Om Hakini Namaha.  Om Hakini Namaha.  Release the mantra and continue to sit restfully inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, open your eyes.  As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought, My inner vision wisely guides my actions.

To keep the flow of intuitive wisdom open today, spend some time trusting your inner guidance.  Pick any situation where you know the right thing to do.  You trust your inner guidance when you use a skill you’ve mastered, when you know how to answer a question, or when your expertise is called upon in making decisions at work.  Feel how easy and natural this is.  Inner vision isn’t mystical.  When you know what you know, that’s your inner guidance.  Now consider any situation today that feels uncertain, where you doubt yourself and don’t know what kind of decision to make.  Instead of evaluating the situation logically, try feeling your way to the right choice.  In other words, you want to reach the same stage of rightness inside that you have when you know what to do,  to reach this state, let go of the problem.  Find the time and place to quietly go inside.  When you feel that an answer is coming to you, trust it.  These steps of letting go, looking inside for the answer, and trusting what you receive, are the mechanics of inner vision.  When we activate the flow of inner guidance, we open the way to our true self and our unlimited wisdom.

Journal Questions

1. “To follow inner guidance, we must learn to listen to it. Write down a description of how you typically listen for guidance. Is your mind filled with frustration, desperation, and a sense of confusion? Do these feelings make it harder to listen to guidance? We are going to try a different approach. Activate intuitive energy by closing your eyes and bringing an easy attention to the still space between the brows for one minute. You are not waiting for a guiding vision or a voice; you are learning to recognize your mode of consciousness in a state of knowingness—simple awareness flowing with cosmic intelligence, not against it.”

2.  “Open your eyes and write down the difference between this state of listening and your usual process of listening for guidance.”

3.  “Write about a confusing situation or dilemma where you made a decision based on a sense of what you felt was right for you at that time, even though it wasn’t strictly following the rules or the straightforward logical choice. Remember what that knowingness felt like. As you write the details of that feeling, take a deep breath and quietly affirm the experience, asking it to be permanently set into your awareness at the space between your eyebrows.”

4.  “Reflect further on your experience today.”

“Nobody cares if you can’t dance well.
Just get up and dance.”

{Martha Graham}

Message of the Day:

Self-expression is an integral part of spiritual growth—it’s is an extension of the way we approach life and look at the world. If we experience the world through the filter of anxiety, fear, frustration, and dread, then our expression will also be filtered through those same negative emotions. To create life-affirming expression, we need to observe, acknowledge, and shift these old emotional patterns.  Today during meditation we open the flow of expression and communication by activating the fifth energy center, also known as the throat chakra. During our time together, we will open to our natural state of positive self-expression, by doing so we begin to transform our inner reality. When communication comes from your core self—your pure voice—it is simple, kind, understanding, and appreciative. In this flow of expression, you are able to share your true self with the world in thought, speech, and action.

Day12 Activating Expression

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome!  There is a circle of energy around each of us directly responding to how we express ourselves.  Imagine that for a moment.  Our intentions create our thoughts, our words, and our actions.  Ultimately, we are what we feel, what we say, and what we express.  How each of us expresses ourselves is unique and powerful and that expression shapes our basic reality.  When we hold back the full expression of our truth, we limit the richness of what life has in store for us.  When we express negativity and fear, we experience more negativity and fear.  That’s the way life is working all the time.  Conversely, when we express the truth of who we are, we open up a flow of freedom, inspiration, boldness that creates its own momentum.  When we begin to give voice to our dreams, we begin to take a step closer to actualizing them.  When we express who we are, we add to the creative flow of the universe and our reality becomes more resonant, more vivid, more vibrant.  Sit back and savor the possibilities as Deepak guides us to the energy center of expression, the fifth chakra. Trust the flow of expressing your own truth and vision and as Deepak says, unlimited creative joy exists.  Let’s go there together, and then we’ll meditate.

Deepak Chopra:

The fifth chakra is envisioned as a light blue energy located in the throat.  This seems natural since the way we all express ourselves is through speech.  The language you use shapes the pathways in your brain, therefore, your personal reality, the way you see the world, is intuitively connected to how you express yourself.

The brains of people who are angry, pessimistic, worried or isolated become adjusted to those attitudes.   We all know people whose first reaction is to reject a new experience or who take a dark view of the world all the time.  Their brains produce these connections in direct  reactions in direct connection to the attitudes being expressed.

Again, there is a circle of energy.  When you keep expressing negative feelings, you will start to filter out everything that isn’t negative.  Then your brain processes your reality to fit your beliefs.  Today, we will learn how to change the flow so that the circle is positive because your brain will adapt to positive input and form new pathways.  If you express yourself from your true self, it is natural to favor optimism, love, appreciation, gratitude, kindness and compassion because those qualities exist in you.  They come out through the fifth chakra when it is awakened.  This energy center is all about letting your true self be known and felt for what it is.

The spiritual energy we have been exploring is known as Shakti in Sanskrit.  There is a beautiful symbolism associated with it for Shakti is a Goddess whose dance brings forth creation.  Every transformation of energy from physical to mental to spiritual is just a new expression of Shakti’s dance, as each level of creation emerges.  There is no limit to how you can express yourself because Shakti is not  just your personal energy, it’s another name for Mother Goddess from whom everything in creation pours out.  When you do anything that expresses who you are, you are adding to creation.   Reality unfolds through each of us.  The more you express yourself, the more vibrant your own reality will become.  Just let your true self flow where it wants to go into greater fulfillment and expansion.  That’s the gift of the fifth chakra.

As we prepare for meditation, let’s consider today’s centering thought,
My life energy expresses its truth.

Begin to settle into a comfortable position, inviting forth a slow and peaceful breathing rhythm.  Allow your awareness to be in this present moment as we gently introduce the syllables Om Shakini Namaha.  Om Shakini Namaha.  This is the mantra associated with the fifth chakra, Om Shakini Namaha.   Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra, Om Shakini Namaha.  Om Shakini Namaha.  Meditate for about 10 minutes.  Om Shakini Namaha.  Om Shakini Namaha.  Just mentally.  Om Shakini Namaha.  Om Shakini Namaha.  Release the mantra and continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly. When you feel ready, open your eyes.  As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My life energy expresses its truth.

To keep the flow of expression in motion today, take time to notice the connection that comes from communication.  This means using your words to bring your feelings to the surface.  Words do more than express ideas.  They carry impulses of consciousness.  These impulses include  encouragement, enthusiasm, exuberance and nourishment.  I’ve picked these qualities because they’re expansive.  They make you feel as if you’re opening yourself to other people and the world around you.  When you have the chance to be exuberant, let it out.  Say how great you feel, not just words – your eyes and face will tell the same story.  Look for moments when you can give encouragement to someone from the heart.  Even a small movement of this direction today will increase the flow of Shakti that we are all meant to display.  There is a huge difference between hiding your light and being the light of the world.  Choose the second way and you will soon find your life transformed.

“Your task is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find all the barriers
within yourself you have built against it.”
{Rumi}

Message of the Day:

This week we have been activating the key energies of our chakras—security, happiness, and power. Today, we continue the journey by activating that part of our life energy that is precious, potent, and can be considered the nectar of our human experience—love. With abundant love flowing from the heart, everything in life is sweeter, brighter, and more enjoyable.  Today’s meditation takes us to the source of love as we activate the fourth energy center, our heart chakra. In our time together, we will open the heart center and gently dissolve the blocks to love—so that this powerful energy can flow into every part of our lives.  Love is compassionate and forgiving . . . it unites even while it celebrates differences. You don’t need to look outside yourself to awaken this love.  It is present in your heart chakra, right now and always.

CENTERING THOUGHT:

 SANSKRIT MANTRA:
Om Kakini Namaha
I activate my love

Day11 Activating LoveOprah Winfrey:

This is day 11.  Welcome!  What can happen in our lives when we open our hearts and let compassion and love flow freely?  We begin to feel at one with pure joy, reciprocity and kinship.  We feel connected to everyone in our lives.  We feel whole.  We have more to give and when we give more, we receive more, and life gets better and better and better.  How do we embrace and expand the most fulfilling experience of love?  As Deepak will guide us, we begin by going within and uniting with the unconditional love the universe has for each of us.  Feel the flow of that love by remembering a moment  that left you breathless, or that melted your heart – the first moment you held you newborn, or the moment you felt the vast majesty of the sky, or mountains, or ocean waves.  For me, that would be redwoods.  That love in the mountain, in the sky, in the redwood trees, is ours to share  and when we do, joy multiplies – beyond imagination.  Deepak will lead us to the energy center of love, the heart chakra  where, as we meditate together, we all flow toward a new experience of giving, receiving and connecting.

Deepak Chopra:

To experience love fully means experiencing who you really are.  Nothing is more natural.  Today in meditation, we will activate the fourth chakra to awaken the true nature of love.  This energy center is also referred to as the heart chakra.  The color we visualizes is green.

When we speak of love having different intensities, the reality is that our connection to the heart chakra can be strong or weak.  Infatuation or love at first sight feels very strong like entering a different reality from everyday life while the mild affection we feel for a friend from our past speaks to a milder connection.  Because consciousness is inside, outside and shared between people, love flows in all directions, just as awareness does.  In a word, love is holistic.  The only reason we don’t experience love everywhere is because we’re not used to living from the level of the true self which is silent mind. Once you realize, this, you can start to live love rather than looking for love.  This is reflected in a beautiful quote from the poet, Rumi.  ‘Your task is not to seek for love but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it’.

The  energy center in the heart can remove obstacles effortlessly, the way warmth dissolves ice.  There is no need to chip away.  By putting attention on hour heart, you encourage the flow of life energy which can heal feelings of loneliness, isolation and anxiety, the symptoms of lack of love.  A balanced heart chakra is love and compassion like a cup that is ever full and spilling over, always full of love and always giving love.

As we prepare for meditation, let’s take a moment to focus on today’s centering thought,
My life energy is love.

Now we’ll begin our meditation.  Please find a comfortable position, placing your hands lightly in your lap and closing your eyes.  Feel your body, noticing any tension it might be holding on to and let it melt away with each inhalation and exhalation.  Let go of all thoughts and expectations, trust that your meditation experience today will be exactly right in the moment.  Now gently introduce the syllables, Om Kakini Namaha.  Om Kakini Namaha.  This mantra is associated with the fourth chakra.  When repeated during meditation, it will help you to open your heart center, activating the flow of love in your life.  Om Kakini Namaha.  Repeat it silently to yourself.  Om Kakini Namaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return to attention to silently repeating the mantra, Om Kakini Namaha.  Continue meditating for about 10 minutes.  Om Kakini Namaha.  Om Kakini Namaha.  Om Kakini Namaha. Om Kakini Namaha.   Release the mantra.  Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My life energy is love.

To keep the flow of love activated today, take time to put your focus, whenever the chance arises to put the on the different flavors of love in your heart.  When you notice them, the simple act of putting your to love helps to make it an intimate part of you.  The flavors of love include the following, appreciation, gratitude, enjoyment, affection, romance and personal attraction.  If you appreciate how lovely the morning is, take a moment to feel it and say to yourself, this is love.  When you enjoy a phone call from a friend, or a delicious lunch, say to yourself, this is love.  These aren’t small things.  Love is gentle by nature and many experiences are infused with love even though we get into the habit of making love to be a big strong emotion.  It can be that too, but feeling gratitude for a kind word is just as loving as a romance.  As you begin to notice these flavors of love, your awareness will expand naturally and then it becomes easier to make those loving gestures of kindness and compassion that are expressions of your true self.  Everything begins in awareness, most especially the universal love that imbues the whole of creation.

Journal Questions

1. “Gratitude activates the energy of love. As we acknowledge the blessing and love we have received, we return that love with our gratitude. List five blessings in your life you are grateful for.”

2.  “Compassion activates love energy by connecting us to the basic human experience we all share in common. When compassion flows, differences don’t matter much. What matters is our unity – the place where we are one heart. List three individuals you know who have different beliefs and values from you. See them simply as souls seeking love and understanding in life, like yourself. Next to their name, write “is seeking love and understanding just like me.” Allow yourself to feel that compassionate connection with each of them.”

3.  “Forgiveness is the transformative power of love. Seeing with the eyes of love and compassion, we finally understand that the offense or hurt we have been holding onto was not hurting our true self, but only our ego self. And the perceived offense was not coming from their true Self either, but also from their hurt ego self. Pick one person you would like to forgive. Try to describe their actions from this soul perspective, as not coming from their real Self, but their hurt self. From this point of view, see if your compassion can grow and encompass them. As you feel love spreading out from your heart center in all directions, feel the cleansing effect of forgiveness to yourself and others for misunderstanding the nature of the hurt feelings.”

“All the powers in the universe are already ours.”
{Swami Vivekananda}

Message of the Day:

Our meditation today activates the third chakra, aligning us with the infinite source of true strength and power. Connected to our natural expression of strength—we become power-full, rather than having power-over. The flow of this energy is derived from the infinite power of the cosmos . . . when in balance and used harmoniously, actions and reactions benefit everyone and everything.  During our time together today, we call in the unconquerable power of the oceans and the wind. Within, we find the power of a seed to sprout and a heart to heal. As we connect and activate this universal power personally, we experience more confidence, greater self-esteem, and a quiet trust that allows us to meet any demand or situation that life may send our way.

Day10 Activating Power

Oprah Winfrey:

Hello everyone, it’s day 10.  Last week we opened up to the source of power deep within that serves us each and every moment in every choice we face, the true power of inner strength and grace.  This week, Deepak guides us to activate the full force of this steady, calm and infinite grace, the most authentic and potent power there is.  I believe that this is the divine power that flowed through great leaders like Gandhi and Nelson Mandela who taught us that true power comes from compassion, commitment, vision, strength and, of course, love.  I believe each and every one of us has this power within ourselves when we get still, when we trust, and let the power of the universe flow through us.  So, open up as Deepak leads us to awaken the energy center of power, the third chakra where we harness the divine flow that drives the universe.  Let that energy propel you to realize and accomplish what matters most to you.  You have the power.

Deepak Chopra:

Today you will be activating your power center, the third chakra.  It is like a ball of glowing yellow energy located in the solar plexus in the navel region.  Power is a profoundly misunderstood word and too often, power is used to harm rather than heal.  Most of us hesitate to even seek power, or to think we deserve it but you deserve an abundance of power because you already have it coursing through trillions of cells in your body.  Your brain has more computing power than all the super computers in the world.  Every bite of food you ingest owes its nourishment to power that literally came from super novae exploding billions of years ago for they are the source of every vitamin and mineral on earth along with all the other elements that make up your body.  You can extend this unlimited power by identifying with it personally, channeling it into confidence, self-esteem, and the strength to meet life’s every challenge.

The energy that comes from your third chakra balances every level of power and it is natural to extend it to a sense of personal power.  It gives you the capacity to accomplish what matters most to you.  This is what an activated, balanced power center is all about.  When this chakra is imbalanced, we have low self-esteem, feeling powerless and timid, at times, victimized.  So many people grow up feeling this way that the opposite  can occur.  They compensate by bullying, over confidence and dominating others.  But the energy in this power center won’t turn you into a tyrant or give you a huge ego.  It will bring a flow of energy that connects what you want with the power to attain it.

As we prepare for today’s meditation, let’s take a moment to reflect on today’s centering thought,
My life energy organizes life effortlessly.

Please sit comfortably and close your eyes.  In this moment, move your attention within.  Let go of all thoughts and begin to observe the inflow and outflow of your breath.  Inhaling and exhaling slowly and deeply.  Now gently introduce the mantra, Om Lakini Namaha.  Om Lakini Namaha.  I activate the power of the universe within me.  This is the mantra associated with awakening the third chakra.  Repeat it silently to yourself, Om Lakini Namaha.  Om Lakini Namaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts or noises around you, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra, Om Lakini Namaha.  Continue meditating for about 10 minutes.  Release the mantra.  Bring your awareness back into your body.  Take a moment to rest.  When you feel ready, gently open your eyes.  As you travel through your day, contemplate the centering thought,  My life energy organizes life effortlessly.

To keep the flow of inner power activated today, take time to think of the ways in which you would like to have the power to create change.  Place your attention on the change you want to see.  If you think you don’t deserve power, if you hand difficult choices off to others, or if you permit someone to control you in ways you don’t want, these are the inner blocks that keep your personal power from waking up.  Notice them without judging against yourself.  We all have limiting beliefs.  Once you have seen a limitation, firmly announce to yourself that you want this limitation to be transformed.   Ask the universe to help you tap into the flow of your inner strength and watch your life transform.

Journal Questions

1. “We contain the infinite power and organizing power of the universe within us. By aligning with the force of nature, instead of the force of ego, we can attain our goals without strain, exhaustion and suffering. List three areas you are struggling to change in your life without success. Read each item on your list and then ask nature to organize the solutions.”

2.  “As you activate the organizing energy of your solar plexus, feel it engaged by the universal power of the cosmos, which governs everything from the birth of a galaxy to the sprouting of a seed. The balance lies between pushing too hard and being too passive. Know that this limitless power and intelligence operating through you is bringing you exactly what you need in knowledge, ability, and experience for your spiritual awakening. Close your eyes and feel this balanced state in your solar plexus. Under each challenge on the list you wrote above, write a plausible solution that nature could organize. For example, if sales in your business are down, you might write that a new large client you talked to will decide to place a big order.”

3.  “Past experiences of disappointment can lead to limiting beliefs, mental habits, and misguided ideals that block our vision. This can lead us to seek for one thing, when what we actually need and want is already present or coming into being unnoticed. Make a point, that from now on, you will keep your mind open to see the gifts nature is already bringing you. Under your plausible solutions you wrote above, write three possible ways those solutions are manifesting right now that you have been underappreciating. For instance, in the above example, perhaps customers are telling you they really like a certain style of one of your product lines. Using that feedback can help you make future decisions that lead to more sales.”

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say,
and what you do are in harmony.”

{Mahatma Gandhi}

Message of the Day:

In today’s meditation, we open the free-flowing energy of happiness and joy by activating our second chakra. When open, this energy center allows us to recognize that our true desires are clues that lead us to happiness, creativity, a sense of delight, and bliss. Once the second chakra is awakened, we feel a sense of wellbeing and happiness that penetrates and uplifts everything we do.  It is a common belief that if we want to experience more happiness each day, we merely need to increase the number or intensity of pleasurable experiences we have in life. In truth, sustained happiness is something we generate in the silence of our consciousness. Today, we will use stillness to tap into the source of ever-present the authentic happiness within so that it can touch every part of our life and help us flow effortlessly.”

 CENTERING THOUGHT
My life energy is bringing me pleasure.

Day9 Activating Happiness

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome!  It’s day 9 – Activating Happiness.  How do we spark the full potential of happiness that is waiting within?  We do it by focusing upon our dreams and desires, and by seeing those dreams and desires as wonderful little clues that guide us to a state of happiness in all areas of life.  I’ve often said that what we focus on expands.  Imagine what happens, then, when we focus on and embrace the guidance of our deepest desires.  As Deepak will show us, the flow of authentic happiness is set in motion.  Get still and listen as Deepak leads us towards connecting with, and opening the energy center, the chakra of true happiness.  Together, we’ll use mediation and mantras to expand the rich flow of joy in our lives.  It is such a great new journey to share together.

Deepak Chopra:

Meditating yesterday on the first chakra with it it’s specific mantra helped us again a firm grounding.  Today, we will activate the energy of happiness with the second chakra.  This energy center is located a few inches below the navel and is visualized as the color orange.  The second center embraces any desire that brings happiness, creativity, a sense of delight, and bliss.  When we have activated the second chakra, we gain a deep enjoyment out of life by awakening  a state of emotional satisfaction within all areas of life including the simple happiness of being alive. The second chakra generates the energy of pleasure, satisfaction and happiness, tapping into a universal force that keeps the cosmic dance going and invites us to join it.  The energy of our dreams and desires is centered in the second chakra.

What is desire?  How should we feel about it?  One of the greatest things about the Indian tradition is that it celebrates desire as a divine gift.  Our greatest ally in reaching any goal is desire, for it motivates us to get up in the morning and seek satisfaction and happiness.  There is a tendency, unfortunately, to believing that spirituality involves renouncing our desires but there is actually nothing impure about desire itself.  When connected to a true desire, we open to the light, love and divine possibility within.  The greatest spiritual guides reached higher consciousness, God and enlightenment because that is what they most desired.  The spiritual part unfolds because we want to walk it step by step.  So celebrate your desire nature which is balanced through your second chakra.  Without the spark of desire, life would be flat and colorless.  As we meditate today, we open to the pure flow of happiness.  We nurture our whole being through the flow of desire.

As we prepare for meditation, let’s focus on today’s centering thought,
My life energy is bringing me pleasure.

Please take a comfortable seat and close your eyes.  Begin by breathing slowly and deeply, inhaling and exhaling through the nostrils.  Now, silently repeat today’s mantra.  Om Rakini Namaha.  This is the mantra associated with the second chakra.  As you repeat the mantra during meditation, you activate the energy of happiness.  Om Rakini Namaha.  Repeat it silently to yourself.  Om Rakini Namaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra, Om Rakini Namaha.  Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes.  Om Rakini Namaha.  Om Rakini Namaha.  Just mentally.  Om Rakini Namaha.   Now release the mantra.  Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My life energy is bringing me pleasure.

To keep the energy of happiness activated, begin to notice how you respond to the desires that come into your awareness throughout the day.  Notice the times you respond to your desires with acceptance and joy and also notice the times that the flow of desire gets blocked by judgement and suppression.  Today, take time to open to your true desires, practicing saying yes to the happiness that is awakened within and travels out into the world around you.  Notice how the energy radiated is reflected back to you.  Notice how a vibrant desire nature feels easy, expansive , warm and vibrant.  When you allow yourself to feel the warm flow of happiness and desire, you are activating your second chakra.  The result is a much healthier emotional life and greater acceptance. These are the gifts of the second chakra.

Journal Questions

1. “Healthy, balanced pleasure nurtures our growth. This flow of desire is our creative impetus, our zest for living. If we deny or suppress our desires, we can become anxious, depressed, emotionally uninvolved, or distant. List ways you might be judging or denying the natural flow of pleasure in your life and why.”

2.  “Overindulgence in pleasure, whether it be sensory, food, drink, drugs, or adrenaline-inducing behavior, as a means of numbing or masking pain and fear, also leads to imbalance and addiction. Think of something you might overindulge in, such as overeating. List three situations that can trigger you to overeat. Then, list a response to each of these to bring you back to balance.”

3.  “Connect to the physical sensations of what calm happiness feels like in your body. Compare that to how the body feels when it is anxious, sad, or worried. Write down your responses, noting your breathing patterns, muscle tension, and any visceral sense of contraction or ease.”

 Message of the Day:

Welcome to the second week of our 21-Day Meditation Experience, Finding Your Flow!  In our first week, we experienced ourselves through the seven primary energy centers of consciousness. These centers are also known as chakras. This week, we will clear, open, and activate each of our seven chakras transforming old constrictive patterns into expansive, powerful, and joyful expressions of our true selves.  As we activate the chakras, the energy begins to flow freely in its natural state. The movement is not random or blind—it is intelligent and purposeful. It not only clears away the obsolete habits and conditioning in our lives . . . it also structures new patterns of thought and behavior that reflect our infinite potentiality.  Today, we are activating the chakra of safety and security. As this center awakens you, feel peace and security rooted deep within your being.

 Day8 Activating Security

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome to week 2, everybody, of Finding Your Flow.  For staying with us.  We’re so honored that you’re here with us on this special meditation journey.  Last week, we explored our relationship with the  many aspects of energy that are part of our lives.  From your sense of security, to your sense of happiness, your experience of self, or your experience of love, your soul always knows exactly what you need.  When you move in alignment with the universal energy that flows through you in every aspect of life, you effortlessly discover that you are upheld by that energy on every level.  Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  This week, we begin to move toward that powerful alignment.  We’re going to go deeper, and start to activate each of the seven energy centers, or chakras, we explored last week.  Deepak will teach us how to attune ourselves to those specific energy centers, wake them up and unleash the energy of the universe that is always available to us in ways that open up miraculous flow.  So get comfortable and get ready as Deepak takes us through the first energy center, the chakra of safety and security, and leads us to meditate from that calming and reassuring place.

Deepak Chopra:

In India, the term for energetic centers  is chakra.  This way of looking at ourselves is like a map.  There are many types of body maps.  In Western medicine, anatomy maps the muscular system and brain maps identify how every function is connected to its own region of activity.  In Chinese medicine, the nervous system is mapped using meridians, tracking the flow our chi or energy.

In the chakra body map, there are seven major energy centers, each corresponding to specific functions of the nervous system.  The chakra system points out that all the energy sustaining us is ultimately spiritual energy.  Each chakra is visualized as a spinning wheel along the spine.  The spinning refers to the chakra acting like a generator, a little dynamo of life energy but because this energy is spiritual, it is not like electricity.   Spiritual energy is intelligent.  It brings you everything you need in life.  It makes wishes become reality.  It removes obstacles that stand in your way.

Today, we are activating the first chakra, the energy system of safety and security which is located at the base of the spine. We visualize the color of the spinning energy as deep red.  When this energy is awake, you don’t hope to be safe or have faith that you’re safe.  You know it deep down because peace, security and safety have become part of you, grounded on the inside.  The first chakra is closest to the earth.  It is the most physical aspect of life energy, making you feel grounded and safe.  The first chakra is therefore called the root chakra.  Plants are rooted in the earth.  You are rooted in body, mind and spirit.

As we prepared for meditation, let’s consider today’s centering thought,
My life energy protects and secures me.

Now let’s begin.  Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.  Begin to notice the natural rhythm of your breath.  With each inhalation and exhalation, allow yourself to feel more relaxed as you begin to rest into the present moment.  Now gently introduce the syllables, Om Dakini Namaha.  This is the mantra associated with the root chakra.  Repetition during meditation will help to activate the energy of security.  Repeat it silently to yourself, Om Dakini Namaha.  Om Dakini Namaha.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return you attention to silently repeating the mantra, Om Dakini Namaha.  Om Dakini Namaha.  Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes.  Om Dakini Namaha.  Om Dakini Namaha.  Just mentally.  Om Dakini Namaha.  Om Dakini Namaha.  Now, release the mantra.  Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, you can open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My life energy protects and secures me

To keep the flow of security activated take some time to consider which activities you engage in today that are inside your comfort zone and which are outside your comfort zone.  With each one, feel the difference.  At the first sign of discomfort in any situation, return to the feeling of being secure and safe.  Imagine your sense of security and adaptability growing stronger and bigger until it encompasses the discomfort entirely.   Envision the first chakra fully activated so that every daily activity will be within your comfort zone.  The more you open to the flow of this wise energy, the more it will come to your aid.

Journal Questions

1. “Activate the energy power at the base of your spine and feel it root you to the invincible, immovable power of the Earth. See yourself as a mighty oak tree with deep roots in the ground. Let that unshakable energy disperse all fears of insecurity and vulnerability. Describe how your inner strength protects you from outside destabilizing forces.”

2.  “Feel that vibrant stability give you the strength and adaptability to accommodate any demand, to weather any storm. It’s not enough to be rigid or you will break like glass. It’s not enough to adapt to anything or you will be like a leaf in the wind. Write about a time when you have met a challenge by being rooted yet flexible.”

 “Once the soul awakens,
the search begins and you can never go back.”

{
John O’Donohue}

 Message of the Day:

Congratulations! Today, we complete the first week of our journey together. In these few days, we have connected to the core energies of who we really are. As we align with these natural energy currents we open to a life flowing with peace, joy, and fulfillment. By tapping in, one-by-one, we have learned how to directly access our natural state of security, happiness, strength, passion, creativity, and wisdom. These qualities are always present—what you are experiencing this week is the power of your authentic self.  Today we explore our true self as light. Light is around us and within us—it is our guide on the path toward self-realization. Light is what triggers us to wake every morning, allowing us to see . . . dissipating the darkness and shadows. As we open to the light within, we connect to the divine light that illuminates our soul, awakening us to our real Self, and the light that connects all things. We find that we are one light connected to all light, universal connection, and consciousness. As this energy is awakened, there is no more searching or striving. Experiencing yourself as infinite consciousness is the state of enlightenment.

Day7 Consiousness

Oprah Winfrey:

Hello everybody.  One week as passed already – can you believe it?  Welcome to Finding Your Flow Day 7.  This week we have traveled within, beginning to discover and allow our connection to that pure sense of peace and power, security really, and love that energizes our lives.  Today, we move toward connecting with our essential light, the flow of pure consciousness.  In this flow, we experience a sense of oneness with everything, with the universe, with all that is. As Deepak will show us, we are each a precious collaborator in creating the beauty, grace and love that is the source of all universal abundance.  Each of us, each one of us, is an essential participant in the divine order of everything that exists.  We have within us the infinite potential to tap into the unlimited flow of joy, rising up from deep within.  Let Deepak takes us to this deep and beautiful place, and then we’ll meditate.

Deepak Chopra:

Have you ever seen yourself as an expression of pure light?  For most people, it’s a strange idea, one that hardly seems to apply to the hard realities of daily life.  You are a living expression of energy, a source of light in this world.  Finding this natural state of light , of consciousness, is not something you have struggle to reach.  It’s who you are, sure and now.  Tapping into this flow aligns you with the source of your inner awareness, the pure light that is the essence of everything in creation, the pure light that is you.

Each day this week, we explored and awakened in ways that lead us to this next natural step.  We have identified our center and practiced finding grounding and safety in life.  And we have sourced the flow of happiness, power,  joy and true love.  Yesterday, as we connected  with our intuitive nature, the stage was set for us to step into the next highest energy, the expression of our true selves which is the divine flow of consciousness. Today, we will open to this flow of consciousness which may sound out of reach and maybe a little abstract.  It is, in fact,  our natural state.  For example, we have all had glimpses of being at one with nature, and moments of joy when we felt life flowing through us in such a way that it felt so blissful that it seemed as if we had  transcended earthly experience.  By gently awakening the flow of consciousness, we embrace the vision that has been guiding us to this very moment in life.  Infinite love and beauty are upholding the universe and within this cosmic plan, we each play a precious part.  Our true essence unfolds from the grounding energy of the earth which provides us with the energy to take each step required to open our infinite potential and consciousness as we reach for the stars.

As we prepare for meditation, let’s consider today’s centering thought,
My consciousness is universal consciousness

Now let’s begin.  Please find a comfortable position, placing your hands gently in your lap and closing your eyes.  In this moment, go within to that place of inner quiet where we experience our connection to the higher self.  Let go of all thoughts and begin to observe the inflow and outflow of your breath.  With each inhalation and exhalation, become more relaxed, more comfortable, more at peace.  Now, gently introduce the mantra, Sahasrara Im.  Sahasrara Im.  Sahasrara.   This Sanskrit mantra connects individual consciousness to universal consciousness.  Repeat it silently to yourself, Sahasrara Im.  Sahasrara Im.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to repeating the mantra, Sahasrara Im.  Sahasrara Im.  Sah.  Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes.  Release the mantra. Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, open your eyes.  As you continue with your day, reflect on the centering thought,
My consciousness is universal consciousness.

To keep the flow of your inner awareness in motion, take some time today to connect with those things that inspire you.  Read a poem you love, or an uplifting passage from your favorite scripture or sacred text.  Notice how the words lift you out of yourself, like a faint perfume in the air that gently draws your attention to it, your higher self exerts a silent attraction.  In moments of self-forgetting, there is self-remembering.  You lose the earthbound self to experience the higher self.  Let this attraction become your experience today.  The gateway to all of these experiences is within.  And the more you allow your awareness to expand, the closer you come to a life that is as near as possible to heaven on earth.

Namaste.

“You are a Divine Being and within you
dwells the infinite wisdom of the ages.”
{Anthon St. Maarten}

Message of the Day:

Our sense of intuition provides us with cues that point us toward our personal fountain of inner wisdom. Today’s meditation will connect us to this way of knowing so that we recognize it as an essential part of our being.  Meditation takes our mind beyond our mental patterns and history of conditioning to a state of purity where we can relate to our inner guidance as directly and innocently as an infant learns speech from its family. As intuition grows, the knowledge of our true self expands, connecting us to the source of wisdom. Seeing the world through the eyes of wisdom allows us to live with fluidity and grace, flowing with the river of life. Aligning with this current, our every thought and action is perfectly harmonized – struggle is released and we are free to embrace every moment as it comes.  Cultivating connection with your inherent intuition leads you to your truth. As you listen and respond to this inner guidance you begin to discover your purpose and path. You only need to open your awareness, listen in the stillness of your being, and take it in.

Day6 Wisdom

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome, My Friends!  It’s Day 6 – Finding Wisdom.  We all have an inner voice.  Some people call it instinct, some people call it intuition, other people call it the voice of God.  I call it all of those things, and also my emotional GPS and I rely on it too, as each and every one of us can, to guide me to my best possible answers.   When we’re quiet, when we trust in the flow of innate understanding, we tap into riches of ease and natural clarity.  All the answers are there if you’re willing to get still and listen.  When we connect with that flow, we tap into the all-knowing insight of the heart.  Trust that ultimate wisdom is within you and move with the flow of that trust.  Today, Deepak is going to teach us how to open up to the wisdom of pure love, pure intelligence, and pure creativity.  And then we will meditate…

Deepak Chopra:

We devote today’s meditation to the part of ourself that brings higher knowledge, wisdom, insight and intuition.  It is truly the window to the soul.  When you awaken to the wisdom center, you open your spiritual eye and begin to understand what lies beyond your physical vision and logical intellect.  From here, the truth reveals itself in the blink of an eye.  Flowing with intuition is attuning to the light of knowledge, a subtle but powerful gift.  Today, we’ll discover how to know the truth, not by thinking long and hard, but by opening up to it, which is simple and natural.

You were born open to wisdom, the way a child is open to receiving a mother’s love.  As adults, the opportunity before us to recapture this openness.  As we tap into the flow of intuition, we find the place where self-realization is born.  Our wisdom self allows us to see from our soul. From this perspective, the complications of life that make us distrust, fear and worry are no longer so complicated.  They are replaced by knowing directly what needs to be said or done.  Your thoughts come directly from your true self.  When this center is fully awakened, you transcend your identification with your body, mind, emotions and ego.  You know yourself as pure love, pure intelligence and pure creativity.  This is the place where self-realization is born.

As we prepare to meditate together, take a moment to consider today’s centering thought,
My wisdom is within.

Close your eyes and notice the natural inhalation and exhalation of your breath, feeling the peaceful support of this natural rhythm.  As you breathe in, you become present.  As you release the breath, you gently let go of any tension. Now let’s begin.  Gently introduce the syllable Om.  As you repeat this Sanskrit mantra, you align with your infinite self and its wisdom.  Repeat it silently to yourself, Om  Om  Om.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra.  Om  Om  Om.  Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes.  Om Om Om  Just mentally.  Release the mantra.  Take some time to rest, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, open your eyes.  As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My wisdom is within.

To sustain the flow of wisdom we have created during meditation today, take time, perhaps every hour or so, to notice whatever you may be experiencing.  There is another level of awareness inside you that is witnessing that experience at the same time.  Try closing your eyes, centering yourself, and then opening your eyes to view the situation, whatever it is, like a movie.  Feel as if you are sitting completely still in the center of the activity, watching without any involvement.  We’re talking here about a small but very powerful shift in perception.  Your completely engaged in everything that is happening, meeting daily demands and following your dreams and wishes.  You’re also beginning to step back to see your life as your soul sees it.  You’re soul is always telling truth in silence, offering guidance and direction without judgement or expectation.  As you develop your awareness of your inner wisdom, you’re growing toward the truth of the soul which unfolds the kind of wisdom that in time will make every moment genuine, fulfilling and infinitely precious.

Journal Questions

1. “Write about a time when you needed guidance on something you didn’t understand and a quiet voice inside said, “This is the way to go.” Describe in detail what that shift of awareness felt like. Take the memory of that feeling of knowingness into the space in your head between your brows. Affirm “I am wisdom” three times.”

2.  “Think of a wise person in your life who helped you find your way. Consider their words as the external voice of your higher self, when it was hard for you to listen and trust your own guidance. Write down their words of wisdom.”

3.  “Practice listening to your inner guidance by writing down a question you have such as, “Is taking this new job offer in my best interest at this time?” Then close your eyes, take 3 deep easy breaths and ask for a quiet mental space to listen beyond your fears and worries. Give yourself a minute or two. If you felt there was a response from your higher self, then write that down. If not, you can repeat the process. The response may not be in words, but simply a quiet impetus to move forward or not. In that stillness you will learn to listen to your unique signals of self-communication.”

“Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.”
{John Gardner}

Message of the Day:

Today’s meditation focuses on the energy of communication and creative expression. Authentically expressing ourselves is an integral part of a balanced, flowing life because it is how we share our unique gifts, talents, and perspectives with the rest of the world. At times we may feel reluctant to express ourselves openly because we feel vulnerable or exposed, yet when we hold back we limit our potential. Aligned with the flow of expression we learn to access a deep and transformational way of being that goes beyond displaying our personality, style, or wit. We discover a way of being that communicates our essential truth through voice, behavior, and even through our quiet presence.  During meditation, you will connect to the place within where your inner truth resides. As you tap into the energy of expression, you will open and allow your truth and creativity to radiate your unique contribution to life. Today remember that you are a valuable, brilliant diamond, here to shine your light to the world in your own special way.

Day5 Expression

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome to day 5.  You’re going to like this one – Finding Expression.  You know, each of us is here on this planet for a unique purpose.  Each of us has a calling.  Expressing ourselves, however that is realized, is the reason we are here.  Your life is whispering to you…all the time, gently guiding you to the fullest, most authentic expression of your soul.  Move with the flow of those whispers and you will begin to become all of who you were meant to be.  Listen.  Hear your calling.  What is waiting inside you to be fully expressed?  Move toward knowing it, honoring it, and then sharing it freely.  I know this for sure – that when you can do that, you will begin to experience the blissful highest expression of yourself as a human being.  Today, Deepak will guide us to trust that innate urge for free self-expression and then we will meditate.

Deepak Chopra:

Self-expression is something people are often afraid of.  Yet, it is a natural and essential part of life. Speaking from our true self is the main way we can let our unique light shine so that the world can see it.  It is our birthright as human beings to receive, and then express our infinite gifts from the universe.  We are each here to fulfill a purpose.  Expressing ourselves is meant to come naturally, a part of who we are.  The legendary modern dancer, Martha Graham said, ‘There is vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique.  If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium, and will be lost’.

We are the most expressive creatures on the earth.  Poetry is in our souls, borne of the same need to express ourselves as words of love and expressing the joy of life.  When we tap into the energy of free self-expression we access the seamless flow of life energy.  As we cultivate and sustain our connection to this way of being, we find ourselves at home in this world, inspired and freely sharing our true selves as we begin to make our unique contribution to life. Like a faceted gem, universal light shines through you in a uniquely beautiful way.

As we prepared for meditation, let’s consider today’s centering thought,
My truth and creativity are within.

Now let’s begin.  Please sit comfortably and close your eyes.  In this moment let you awareness move within.  Let go of all thoughts and begin to observe the inflow and outflow of your breath, inhaling and exhaling slowly and deeply. Now, gently introduce the mantra, Ham (sounds like hum).  Repetition of this Sanskrit mantra helps us to feel more open about expressing who we are by connecting us with the flowing energy of self-expression.  Repeat silently to yourself, Ham Ham Ham.   Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra, Ham Ham Ham.  Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes and then release the mantra.  Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you feel ready, you can open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My truth and creativity are within.

To keep the flow of free expression in motion, take time today to notice how you use your voice.  Pay attention to the moments you speak your truth, and to how you choose to express yourself throughout the day.  Be aware of the subtle reasons you have for not expressing yourself.  Witness when you hold back anything, compliments and loving words to yourself, moments that you do not share your perspective.  And even criticism that you do not express.  Notice what you feel.  Does your throat become tight as if the words are stuck there?  Then let yourself relax and take a deep breath.  Begin to tap into the flowing energy of expression that we connected to in our meditation time.  You don’t need to do anything here except to notice that it takes energy to restrict the natural flow of thoughts and feelings.  You now have a tool for opening the flow back up so that you can rest into existence.  In this flow you can accept and honor yourself for who you are.

Journal Questions

1. “In your journal describe a part of your life where you are creative. It doesn’t have to be art. It could be cooking, problem-solving, or teaching children. Acknowledge that this is an important channel through which divine creativity flows through you for others.”

2.  “Identify the critical voice in you that says you aren’t good enough or talented enough to be showing your creative works to everyone. Write out the various phrases of judgment and self-criticism. At the end of each of those self-critical phrases respond to that voice, “Too bad, because I am going to shine my light anyway, because no one can be me except me.”

3.  “Describe a time when you surprised yourself by a creative insight or a novel approach to an old difficulty. Realize that all new ideas come from the silent depth of your awareness. As you open your consciousness to this field of all possibilities, you tap an infinite reservoir of creativity.”

“Loving yourself does not mean being self-absorbed,
it means welcoming yourself as the most
honored guest in your own heart.”
{Margo Anand}

Message of the Day:

We all seek love. As humans, we thrive physically, emotionally, and spiritually when we feel, receive, and share love. For many of us, it is not uncommon to believe that finding love is difficult, out of our control, or that the stars must align in an act of destiny in order for us to have love in our lives.  Today, we take an empowering step as we explore the idea that the source of all love is already within each of us, in the center of our spiritual heart. When we tap into the flow of love we no longer seek to fill an inner void by seeking love from others. We instead align with the ever-present reservoir of love that lives within. We move from seeking love to living love.  During meditation today you will discover that love is your essential nature. It is more than an emotion—love is who you truly are. When you shift your orientation from receiving love to being love, and giving love—everything changes.

CENTERING THOUGHT
My love and compassion are within.

Day4 Love

Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome everybody.  It’s day 4 already.  This, I know for sure.  There are two forces that really matter in this life.  The force of fear and the force of love.  And in every moment, every choice, every action, we are either moving towards fear, or towards love.  Fear comes in many forms.  It’s anything that weakens your spirit.  Another name for fear – jealousy, anger, frustration, self-doubt, all  come under the banner of fear.  Love, on the other hand, is everything that lights you up.  It’s joy, it’s contentment, it’s generosity, it’s acceptance, it’s trusting that you are in partnership with something bigger and much more than yourself.  This is true love  and it lives within you.  Join Deepak as he guides us to reach inside, unleash the flow of love, and let the miracles begin.  And then let’s meditate.”

 Deepak Chopra:

“Today, we explore that part of ourselves which is the source of love.  From here, your whole life can be harmonized because love is a force that is irresistible.  It attracts everything that is positive in life, heals our wounds, calms our worries, and more than any other energy, brings us back to who we really are.

From the heart, love flows as gently as our breathing.  The heart is the place where we feel love, express love and share love.  As you explore your heart center, you’ll find that love is not something you have to look for from others. Love is actually our true nature, who we all are.  We’ve all experienced what love can be through our relationships, and everyone would call the need for love one of the highest needs in anyone’s life.  But even the strongest  love can come and go.  Love can be so intense that it is painful and we fear it’s loss which can be devastating.

Let’s approach love in a new way, as an aspect of yourself that never wavers and that no one can take away from you. The most beautiful spiritual experience is to connect to the source of love within.  It can be gentle or intense but it brings no fear.  You will discover that instead of love being something you wait for, look for, and try to deserve, there is another kind which we call unconditional love.  At its source, love is always unconditional.  We put limits on love because we judge ourselves as unworthy of love that has no conditions on it.  But once you awaken this love within, you begin to experience that love is a natural aspect of your true self.  Then you can build upon this experience for the rest of your life.

As we settle in for meditation, let’s consider today’s centering thought,
My love and compassion are within.

Now, let’s begin.  Please find a comfortable position with your hands lightly in your lap, palms upward and close your eyes.  Allow your breath to flow naturally and effortlessly.  Connect with your body and notice any tension it might be holding.  Send loving thoughts to any area in need of attention and invite your body to relieve any stress. As you inhale and exhale, allow yourself to feel calmer and more relaxed.  Gently introduce the mantra, Vam.  The repetition of this mantra during mediation helps you connect to your heart and opens that flow that is your essential nature – love.  Repeat it silently to yourself, Vam Vam Vam.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra.   Vam Vam Vam   Just mentally.  Vam Vam Vam . Continue with your meditation for about 10 minutes and then release the mantra.   Bring your attention back into your body.  Take a moment to rest, breathing slowly and deeply.  When you feel ready, gently open your eyes.  Take some time to rest, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you are ready, open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, remain open to abundant love and consider today’s centering thought,
My love and compassion are within.

To keep the flow of love in motion during your day today, practice giving the energy of love to yourself and each person that crosses your path.  As you give, you will receive.  If you find yourself criticizing or judging yourself harshly, take a moment, breathe deeply, exhale and then regard your actions as  the insignificant oversights of revered guests in your home, easily forgiven in the light of your high esteem.  Bringing this to mind will help you remember the experience of being with yourself quietly in a state of loving kindness.

 Namaste

“I was always looking outside myself
for strength and confidence,
but it comes from within.
It is there all the time.”
{Anna Freud}

Message of the Day:

Today in the quietness of meditation, we learn that universal power is always there to support us. As we tap into this infinite energy source we discover our authentic power.  During today’s meditation, our individual flow of energy will be joined by the flow of unlimited power—universal power. This connection can transform our outlook from one of fear and doubt into an easy confidence and strength as we let our life flow with the almighty force of nature.

CENTERING THOUGHT
My power and strength are within.

SANSKRIT MANTRA
Ram

I am strength.

Day3 Power

 Oprah Winfrey:

Welcome everyone, it’s Day 3, Finding Power.  There are so many ways to understand power.  Most often when we see others with lots of money or access or position, we assume they must be powerful.  What happens though, when someone loses their money, their access, their position?  Are they still powerful? What I believe is that each of us has a source of power deep within that helps us in much deeper, more profound ways; that source serves us in each and every moment and in every choice we face.  Without connection to that source with a capital S, we often lose trust, confidence and perspective.  Aligned with your true power, you are accepting, calm, optimistic and whole.  True power is strength over time.  Strength times strength times strength equals power and it is the power of the humble warrior,  the power of inner steadiness that we call  upon in crisis, and that we share generously when others need our support. Sit back and relax, breathe into the steadiness and power within as you listen to Deepak’s words.  Then we’ll meditate together.

Deepak Chopra:

You have probably heard at one time or another that we are never given more than we can handle.  This is often expressed to provide comfort and encouragement during challenging passages in life.  Yet,  there are times and situations that are so difficult that the next steps seem impossible, as if we are being asked to access a level of inner strength that is out of our reach.  In those moments, how do we tap into the source of inner strength and power?  Most of us have been taught from childhood that power belongs to the few who possess exceptionally strong egos and will.  But the world has been changed for centuries by ideas that originated from wisdom, gentleness and love.  Individual strength and power are limited but when we  align our connection with the flow of universal power, we connect with our true selves and access an energy source that is inexhaustible.  When our inner self esteem and strength comes from our true self, we have it for a lifetime.  We are resilient, no matter what ups and downs we face.

Today, we will experience the course of true inner strength that is found when we tap into the power of the universe. This unlimited power is always present and available to support us in the stillness of meditation.  During meditation, we make the  connection between body, mind and spirit and open ourselves to a natural inner harmony, shifting our  from states of worry, uncertainty and depression into natural balance as we connect with our true sense of personal power.  When the energy of inner power is awakened, we find confidence and strength because we are connected with the limitless power of all creation which compose the cosmos and every cell in our bodies at the same time.

As we prepare to meditate consider today’s centering thought,
My power and strength are within.

Please sit comfortably and close your eyes.  In this moment, move your attention within.  Let go of all thoughts and begin to observe the inflow and outflow of your breath, inhaling and exhaling slowly and deeply.   Now gently introduce the Sanskrit mantra, Ram.   Repetition of this mantra helps your  individuality connect with universal power.    Repeat it silently to yourself, Ram Ram Ram.  Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations, simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra, Ram Ram Ram.  Just mentally.  Ram Ram Ram.    Continue with the meditation for about 10 minutes and then release the mantra. Continue to sit restfully, inhaling and exhaling slowly.  When you are ready, open your eyes.

As you continue with your day, contemplate the centering thought,
My power and strength are within.

Today, pause to notice the times when you feel an easy confidence in your ability.  notice how smoothly the energy flows during these moments. The experience of drawing upon inner power is just like that – silent, unassuming, and self-assured.  Pay attention to how you feel in these moments.  With this awareness, you can practice remembering and tapping into the flow of inner strength, increasing your confidence and sense of well-being in all aspects of your life.  As you absorb today’s meditation experience, remain connected to your true inner power, knowing that your entire life is upheld by creation’s unlimited energy.

Namaste

Journal Questions

1. “Who do you look up to as a model of self-confidence? Make a list of people you think of as courageous and strong. It can be someone in your family, a historical figure, or even a character in a book or movie. As you admire these people, you are being pointed to a quality that lives within you as well.”

2.  “Describe a situation where you needed to do a task and you didn’t know how you would do it, but you rose to the challenge because something inside said, “You can do this.” As you recall that situation, what did that confidence feel like? What or who inspired you to take the courageous step? Did you feel that strength centered anywhere in your body?”

3.  “Write about an area in your life where you are talented – perhaps it is problem-solving at work, and you have acquired an easy confidence. Feel that confidence in your solar plexus and know that when your life is flowing, that confidence will be there, always.”
